I watch the sunlight play upon your hair
Embrace the love that fills the air
Watch your eyes crinkle as you laugh
Transfixed by your mouth
As you whisper the words ‘I love you’
And I say ‘I love you too’

It’s a Summer day, bright and still
The scent of frangipani fills the senses
You gaze into my eyes, find my soul
Emotions unleashed, out of our control

These words will never be written
But they imbue my mind today, and forever
To be retrieved when needed, whenever
Today, I am the poet, you are the poetry

We’re having a moment in time
When everything about you is divine
When this crazy world stops spinning too
And I’m focused on everything that is you
As you whisper the words ‘I love you’
And I say ‘I love you too’

I watch you in a field of wildflowers
While you carefully choose a floral bouquet
‘For you, for my love’, you say
‘This has been a perfect day’

These words will never be written
But they imbue my mind, today and forever
To be retrieved when needed, whenever
